Carole Dore

Carole Dore is a member of our Advisory Board. Carole was one of the first board members of the Executive Board when it first founded. She had served as Board Secretary as well as on many committees. Carole joined Words on Wheels because she always wanted to share her passion for reading. Having retired, she enjoys donating her time to engage children with reading at an early age, in order to enrich their futures.

Carole brings to WOW her years of working in a school environment as a teacher’s aide for junior high reading and as school secretary. Her expertise and skills with organization and planning, are from her years of working many administrative and clerical positions. Carole used her skills to help grow the Words on Wheels organization.

Carole’s past experiences includes:

• Past Member of Literacy Volunteers of Lake County Board of Directors for four years

• Past Executive Director City of Waukegan Chamber of Commerce for four years

• Past Member of University Center of Lake County Advisory Board for two years

• Past manager in the semiconductor industry for fifteen years

• Past parochial school secretary and teacher’s aide for twelve years

Even though Carole has retired from our organization, she continues to volunteer—being a part of our fundraising committee. As well as being a part of nonprofit organizations in Lake County, Carole enjoys spending time and being a part of her grandchildren’s lives.
